1Oranjestaad was founded in 1796, the town is named after King William of Orange.

2Sint Nicolaas is named after a local landowner, Mr Nicolas van der Biest (1808-1873). The �Sint� derives from the customary appellation of land masters, �Shor�, as in Shor Nicolas.
