1Oranjestaad was founded in 1796, the town is named after King William of Orange.
2Sint Nicolaas is named after
a local landowner, Mr Nicolas van der Biest
(1808-1873). The �Sint� derives from the customary
appellation of land masters, �Shor�, as in Shor Nicolas.
Wealth; Gross Domestic Product (nominal values)� Tourism is the main economic activity, with 75% of tourists coming from the USA (2010).� This has also boosted the construction sector.
